John Clemens

Well folks it’s been a rough few days around here. I don’t mean I’ve had any tragedies or close calls. I mean I’m just about tired to the bone. BUT…that’s a good thing. As I have told you before I have my fingers in quite a few pies, and right now it seems all of them are in the oven. That is to say I’ve been a busy little boy for the last ten or twelve days. Yesterday morning at the beginning of my Bible class I told the attendees, “I’m moving so slowly that I just went into the men’s room and the motion activated lights didn’t even come on.”

Let me fill you in on a few exciting things I’ve discovered within the last few days. First, on Thursday evening while I was setting up the pool patio at the Dr. Pepper Ballpark I happened to be leaving the elevator as our public address announcer, John Clemens was waiting to go up to his booth. This happens pretty often, but this time John said, ”Kent why didn’t you tell me you had written a Christian book?” I fumbled and mumbled and finally came out with something like, “I don’t know.”

It turns out, John’s wife writes Christian book reviews, and he wanted to know if I would be interested in having her read it. …Well…course I do! During the game I got the chance to go to my car, and get a couple of books, and I delivered them to him in the booth. Then he asked if I knew Kerby Anderson? Sorry to say I don’t know Kerby Anderson, but that was the second time within the week that I had been asked if I knew him. So…do you think I might want to get to know this guy, Kerby?

Turns out Kerby Anderson is the radio host of Point of View, a nationally broadcast radio talk program which airs locally each day on 91.5 from 1:00-3:00pm. Below is a copy/paste from the opening page of www.pointofview.net

Point of View is a two-hour, issues-oriented live talk radio program heard daily nationwide. Kerby Anderson and the Point of View team cover the full spectrum of issues and current events that affect our faith, family, government, education, and basic freedoms from a Christian perspective. Point of View’s loyal listening audience thrives on the daily interviews and interaction with informative guests including authors, politicians, opinion leaders, conservative activists, and subject matter experts.

I received an email from John Clemens yesterday, and he told me his wife has a copy of Everyday Christianity, and that he would be giving Kerby Anderson a copy today. (Monday) Please pray that Mrs. Clemens, and Kerby Anderson will be touched by the message of Everyday Christianity, and that they will become active in helping promote the book.

It doesn’t stop there, friends. John also said “I can do an interview for IRN-USA Radio Network for my Christian Interest News segment any day at your convenience.” Please check out John and his program by clicking the following links. http://www.usareligiousnews.com  http://www.clemensreport.com

I am also a friend of Bryan Dodge. Brian is a nationally known speaker who helps corp. and businesses improve their business. He is also the author of The Good Life Rules published by McGraw Hill. The book sold its initial run of fifty thousand books six months ahead of company expectations. Please go to http://bryandodge.com to learn more about Bryan and what he does. One of the things you will find while visiting his site is that he also has a weekly radio show called  “Build a Better You” on Dallas/Fort Worth’s premier station, WBAP 820 AM.

When I gave Bryan a copy of Everyday Christianity he said, “I will either be one hundred percent behind it or I won’t touch it.” After reading the book Bryan called me and said, “I am one hundred percent behind this book.” He went on to say, ”I will never forget Grumpy Smith, and I will be scheduling a time for you to come on my radio program.”

One final bit of news I learned over the weekend. I received a message on FackBook from a cousin-in-law, Kelley Clark. She said she had just gone to Mardel and bought the last copy Everyday Christianity on their shelf, and was looking forward to reading it. The thing is she lives in Lubbock so I asked her if she bought it at the Mardel in Lubbock? She said yes she did. That is great news; I didn’t know they were carrying it there. I did know that several of my friends from West Texas had read the book, but I didn’t know it was on the shelf there. Thank You, Lord.

I guess the only way to finish this is to ask for your prayers, and continued support. I am so thankful for each of you because I know that you have taken a personal interest in my ministry and me. Please contact everyone you know and ask them to follow my blog, and read Everyday Christianity.

Till next time,

Grump
